Mysuru witnessed an extraordinary moment when Karnataka Kalathilaka Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy, along with Gayana Gandharva Dr. R.S. Nandakumar, Natyacharya Vid. R. Kannan, Guru K. Sandesh Bhargav and guest of honour Natyacharya Prof. K. Ramamurthy Rao, rose in standing ovation applauding the exceptional mother-daughters trio — Dr. K. Poornima (Mother), Dr. Prarthana Y. Gowda and Vandana Y. Gowda — devoted disciples of Guru Anusha Varun, saluting not only the dancer’s accomplishments but the years of sadhana, sacrifice and unwavering support behind them and for their remarkable Bharatanatyam presentation.

The evening was graced by Dr. Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji and Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, at JCAC in Vijayanagar 1st Stage here.

The rare mother-daughters trio offered a moving celebration of lineage and devotion. Dr. Poornima, an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, continues to balance her profession with her passion for Bharatanatyam, supported steadfastly by her husband, Dr. T. Yathiraju, whose encouragement strengthens their family’s artistic journey. Among the many pillars behind the evening’s success, Guru Anusha Varun stood out for her unwavering dedication. Her precise, soulful natuvanga held the performance like a heartbeat — steady, nurturing  and full of quiet pride.

The evening’s repertoire opened with Melaprapthi in Raagamalike (Sankeerna Chapu), followed by Jathiswara in Aarabhi (Adi) and Shiva Kruthi in Lathangi (Adi). The dancers then presented the expressive Padavarna – Barai Raghuvamsha Chandrane baa in Ramapriya (Adi) and the contemplative Brahmamokate in Bhowli (Trishra Adi).

The programme continued with the beloved Krishna nee begane in Yaman Kalyani (Mishra Chapu), Bhagyada Lakshmi Baramma in Madhyamavathi (Adi) and concluded with a vibrant Jog Tillana in Khanda Jathi Triputa Tala.

The performance was beautifully supported by the ensemble: Guru Anusha Varun (natuvanga), Vidu. Kanchana S. Shriranjani (vocal), Vid. H.L. Shivashankar Swamy (mridanga), Vid. Gopal Venkataramana (veena), Vid. Samruddh Srinivas (flute) and Vid. H.L. Anantha Krishna Swamy (rhythm pad).

The senior students of Nruthyathi Kalaashaale efficiently took charge of the event’s organisation — from compering to managing the programme flow — ensuring the evening unfolded seamlessly and professionally.

The auditorium was filled to the last seat, with many more gathering outside just to catch a glimpse of the event. As the trio moved from piece to piece, the atmosphere grew charged — an electric blend of expectation, emotion and sheer artistic joy. Their synchrony, expressive clarity and heartfelt immersion held the audience in deep attention.

The evening closed as a radiant memory — an unforgettable chapter for the family, the Gurus and Mysuru’s cultural community.
