Mysore/Mysuru: St. Philomena’s College (Autonomous), Bannimantap, Mysuru, marked Human Rights Day-2025 with a meaningful celebration under the global theme “Human Rights, Our Everyday Essentials.”
The event was jointly organised by the Equal Opportunity Cell, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Institution Innovation Council.
The celebration was formally inaugurated by chief guest Muhammed Hasmath Khan, Dy.SP, Assistant Director of Karnataka Police Academy, Mysuru.
Resource Person Dr. T.M. Prashanth, Assistant Professor at Vidyavardhaka Law College, Mysuru, elaborated on the legal and practical dimensions of human rights as “Everyday Essentials.”

Rev. Dr. Lourdu Prasad Joseph, Rector of St. Philomena’s College, presided.
Other dignitaries present included Rev. Fr. Gnana Pragasam, Campus Administrator, Rev. Fr. S. David Sagayaraj, Assistant to the Rector, Dr. Ravi J.D. Saldanha, Principal and Ronald Prakash Cutinha, Vice-Principal.
Dr. B. Shyla, Associate Professor of PG Chemistry, welcomed. Dr. V. Deepa, IQAC Co-Coordinator, proposed the vote of thanks. A. Thomas Gunaseelan (IQAC – Coordinator) and Dr. H.K. Nandeesha (EO Cell – Coordinator) coordinated for the successful organisation of the event. Technical assistance was managed by John Joseph, System Admin and P. Babu, Assistant Professor of Malayalam.
