City’s Manvanth Kumar named in Vijay Hazare squad

December 18, 2025

Mysore/Mysuru:  City’s L. Manvanth Kumar, who had made headlines after being picked up by Delhi Capitals for 2025 season of Indian Premier League (IPL), has been named to represent Karnataka in Vijay Hazare Tournament organised by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Manvanth Kumar, who has already represented the State U-23, U-19 and also played at Syed Mustaq Ali tournament, has been named in the State team for the first time for upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy.

A right-arm-medium fast bowler and a left-hand batter, Manvanth Kumar represents RBNCC team in KSCA Mysuru Zonal League matches.

Manvanth’s family resides at J.P. Nagar in Mysuru. S. Lakshmi Kumar, his father, works as driver for Dr. Bhanuprakash Sharma, noted astrologer in Srirangapatna.

Earlier, he worked as driver with Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) before resigning the job five years back. R. Sridevi Kumar, his mother, is a home-maker.

The Karnataka team led by Mayank Agarwal also includes K.L. Rahul, Prasidh Krishna, Karun Nair, Devdutt Padikkal, R. Smaran, K.L. Srijith, Abhinav Manohar, Shreyas Gopal, Vyshak Vijayakumar, Shreesha S. Achar, Abhilash Shetty, B.R. Sharath, Harshil Dharmani and Dhruv Prabhakar.

The inclusion of K.L. Rahul  and Prasidh Krishna in the Karnataka team comes after BCCI had mandated that all current players on national duty must make themselves available for at least two Vijay Hazare trophy matches, citing the three-week window between India’s final T20 match against South Africa in Ahmedabad on Dec. 19 and the opening ODI match against New Zealand on Jan. 11, 2026.
