Sir,
I recently visited Brindavan Gardens at Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) Dam and was appalled at the state of this once-beautiful tourist attraction.
It is disheartening to see a place with so much potential receive so little attention in terms of cleanliness, upkeep and overall maintenance.
The neglect is visible right from the parking lot, where plastic waste is thrown everywhere. I initially assumed it was just the outer area, but to my utter disappointment, the inside was no different. Plastic waste, straws and food wrappers were all over the garden.
The tiled pathways are broken and unfinished, and water from some leakage flows directly onto the walkways. Even the fountain water looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in months.
The children’s play area, despite having good equipment, has met the same fate. Weeds grow under the slides and a few swings are broken.
The authorities managing Brindavan Gardens have a lot to learn from how Mysuru Zoo, Karanji Lake and other popular tourist spots in the city are maintained. A location that draws thousands of visitors deserves far better care.
