Mysore/Mysuru: Marking the 163rd anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, students of Ramakrishna Vidyashala, Yadavagiri, took out a grand procession in the city yesterday.

Mysuru Ramakrishna Ashram head Swami Muktidanandaji launched the procession after offering floral tributes to the statue of Swami Vivekananda at Cheluvamba Park in Vontikoppal. The procession passed through Kalidasa Road, Temple Road and V.V. Puram Police Station, before returning to the Vidyashala.

Speaking on the occasion, Swami Muktidanandaji said that the Union Government has declared Jan. 12, the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, as the National Youth Day.

Stressing on the need for celebrating the day in a most purposeful manner, he called upon everyone to strive for maintaining unity and integrity of the country.

Swami Yukteshanandaji, Swami Mahamedanandaji and others were present.
