GTD remembers JD(S) only during polls: MLC Manjegowda

January 21, 2026

Mysore/Mysuru: “Chamundeshwari JD(S) MLA G.T. Devegowda (GTD), who says that he is still with the JD(S) and would contest the next Assembly election on a JD(S) ticket, is actually involved in anti-party activities  in his current tenure,” alleged JD(S) MLC C.N. Manjegowda.

Addressing a press meet at Pathrakarthara Bhavan in city yesterday, he said GTD’s statement that he has never engaged in anti-party activities nor has he embarrassed the party leaders, is ridiculous.

Maintaining that the MLA has been issuing anti-party statements in public forums, he said that GTD won from Chamundeshwari riding high on the party’s charisma and the efforts of the party leaders.

“But after winning the polls, GTD seems to have totally forgotten this and has carried out a tirade against the JD(S) and its leaders. He also campaigned against the party’s candidate in the Legislative Council polls from South Graduates Constituency. GTD, during Dasara inauguration event atop Chamundi Hill, had openly come in support of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah when the Opposition had sought the resignation of the CM,” he said while citing many other instances where GTD had embarrassed the party and the party workers by siding with Congress.

Stating that he and other party leaders have urged the JD(S) Supremo to declare former Minister S.R. Mahesh as the party candidate from Chamundeshwari, the MLC said 70 percent of the party workers in the Constituency were supportive of Mahesh. Even local leader Mavinahalli Siddegowda has assured of returning to JD(S) if Mahesh was made the party candidate, he added.

JD(S) leaders Dinesh, Prakash, Dharmaraj and Nayaz were present at the press meet.
