Mysuru Central Workshop bags Efficiency Shield

January 22, 2026

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru Central Workshop has achieved remarkable progress in productivity during the current financial year, registering an impressive average monthly coach outturn of 85.66, a substantial increase from 63.40 achieved during the previous year.

This notable improvement represents a 35% growth in Periodical Overhaul (POH) outturn, accomplished despite challenges such as heavy corrosion and complex technical requirements involved in coach overhauling.

The workshop has also significantly enhanced coach availability for traffic operations by supplying 331 sets of SS1 bogies and 426.5 sets of IOH bogies to various divisions of South Western Railway (SWR). These efforts have played a vital role in reducing coach ineffectiveness across the railway network.

Further demonstrating its growing technical expertise, Mysuru Central Workshop successfully executed complex repairs on severely corroded LHB coaches, ensuring improved safety, reliability and passenger comfort.

In recognition of these outstanding achievements, Mysuru Central Workshop has been conferred the prestigious “Efficiency Shield” for Best Performing Workshop in South Western Railway for the year 2025.

The award was presented by Mukul Saran Mathur, General Manager, South Western Railway, to V.K. Chadha, Chief Workshop Manager, during the Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar Ceremony held at Chalukya Railway Institute, Hubballi, on Jan.20 in the presence of Senior Railway Officers.

On the occasion, Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar and Rail Seva Puraskar were also conferred on deserving employees of SWR, celebrating their outstanding dedication and service.
