Mysore/Mysuru: City’s 5th Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced a man to five years jail besides imposing a fine of Rs. 50,000 after he was found guilty of attempting to murder his wife.
The convict is Nayaz Ahmed, who had tried to strangle his wife Seema Banu to death on Sept. 2, 2019.
Following their marriage, the couple was leading a peaceful life until Nayaz began to quarrel with his wife daily besides restricting her against speaking with the neighbours. Nayaz, who had stopped maintaining the house, used to look at his wife in a doubtful manner and torture her.
On Sept. 2, 2019, Nayaz, who picked up a fight with his wife, told her to divorce him as he wanted to marry again. He then tried to strangle his wife using her veil.
Following the incident, the Police had registered a case against Nayaz and four of his family members. After investigation, the Police had submitted a charge sheet to the Court.
Judge K.N. Roopa, who took up the case, heard the arguments from both sides, found Nayaz guilty of the crime and sentenced him. Public Prosecutor A.N. Madhu argued on behalf of the Government.
