Mysore/Mysuru: Karnataka State Unorganised Workers Social Security Board and Department of Labour is conducting a special registration drive under Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) for unorganised labourers till Mar. 15.
District Level Implementation Committee headed by Deputy Commissioner has been formed to conduct the drive in association with various Panchayat Raj institutions, Urban Local Bodies and Common Service Centres. Mysuru district administration aims to register 9,000 unorganised labourers under this drive.
The Central Government has introduced the scheme to provide Rs. 3,000 pension for unorganised labourers post retirement. Labourers aged between 18-40 years can register. They should contribute Rs. 55 to Rs. 200 every month according to their age and the Central Government will deposit the contributions to their bank account. After they cross 60 years, they will be paid Rs. 3,000 monthly pension.
Construction workers, beedi workers, street vendors, coolies, brick factory workers, cobblers, domestic servants, auto drivers, sound and light workers, handloom workers, fishermen, rag pickers among other unorganised labourers and other vendors can register by visiting nearby Common Service Centres along with their Aadhaar card, bank pass book and first month’s contribution, according to a press release from Labour Officer and Member-Secretary.
