Mysore/Mysuru: The city’s 7th Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced two drug peddlers to five years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000 each after they were found guilty of selling and transporting narcotic substances in city.
Those sentenced are 37-year-old Mudasir Ahmed and 38-year-old Mohammed Imran, both residents of Rajivnagar in city.
Udayagiri Police had registered a case against them under Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Udayagiri Inspector K.N. Sudhakar, who conducted an investigation, had submitted a charge-sheet against the accused to the Court. The 7th Additional District and Sessions Court Judge, who took up the case, found both the accused guilty of the crime and sentenced them to rigorous imprisonment besides imposing the fine. If the accused fail to pay the fine, they have to undergo an additional one year imprisonment.
