Sri Purandara – Thyagaraja Aradhana & 39th Annual Day: Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha to fete senior achievers in classical music

Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust, Mysuru, will be celebrating the Aradhana of Sri Purandaradasa and Sri Thyagarajaswamy on Feb.8 at Sri Prasanna Parvathi Kalyana Mantapa, V.V. Mohalla, Mysuru. 

The celebrations will commence in the morning with the traditional Ooncha Vritthi, the procession around the streets of V.V. Mohalla with musicians following the chariot decorated with the Saint composers’ paintings and singing at 7.30 am.

The 39th Annual Day of the Sabha will be attended by Dr. M. Jagannath Shenoy, patron of art, culture and education and a respected industrialist as the chief guest and Amshi Prasannakumar, senior journalist, as the guest of honour.

Five senior achievers in the field of classical music will be felicitated by the chief guest and guest of honour. Sabha President Dr. P. Mohandas Bhat will preside over the event at 10 am.

 The eminent musicians who will be bestowed upon the title ‘Kala Deepti’ and felicitated for their contributions are: Vidu. M.S. Sheela, Bengaluru, Vidu. Dr. B.N. Manjula, Nanjangud, Vid. A.V. Dattathreya, Mysuru, Vid. K.H. Ravikumar, Mangaluru and Vidu. Dr. Geetha Seetharam, Mysuru

The offering of musical tribute, goshti gayana of Thyagaraja Pancharatna kritis by all musicians of the city and their disciples will be held at 11.30 am followed by prasada.
