Bengaluru: The Karnataka Cabinet has cleared several major proposals spanning wildlife protection, technology, infrastructure, education and social welfare.

To mitigate human-wildlife conflict, approval has been granted for the installation of railway barricades along the fringes of Nagarahole Tiger Reserve, with the Forest Department authorised to undertake the work at an estimated cost of Rs. 11.65 crore.

The barricades will prevent the entry of wild animals, especially elephants, into villages and agricultural fields.

In the technology sector, the Government has sanctioned Rs. 67.20 crore for the deployment of an Artificial Intelligence-driven social media analytics solution aimed at strengthening monitoring and analysis capabilities.

Religious infrastructure will also see investment, with administrative approval given for the construction of a new guest house at the Kollur Mookambika Temple at an estimated cost of Rs. 16 crore.

In education, Rs. 37.80 crore has been released to establish computer laboratories in schools run by Karnataka Residential Educational Institutions.

On the welfare front, the Cabinet has approved a relief scheme for families affected by suicides linked to coercive loan recovery practices of microfinance institutions, providing financial assistance to those in distress.
