Mysore/Mysuru: Actor, Director and screen writer Prakash Belawadi has been selected for the prestigious S.L. Bhyrappa Sahitya Pratisthana Prashasti for the year 2026.
The award will be presented to him by renowned Kannada writer, translator and former Chairman of the Kuvempu Bhasha Bharathi Dr. Pradhan Gurudatta.
S. N. Sethuram, Kannada TV serial director and playwright will be the chief guest and speak on Belwadi’s contribution to Indian drama and theatre. S.B. Uday Shankar, Pratisthana President, will be present.
Prakash Belwadi had directed the drama of late Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa’s renowned, researched novel Parva that gave a profound 8-hour multi-act theatrical experience, which focused on human emotion over mythology.
The award ceremony will be held at Suchitra Cinema and Cultural Academy in Bengaluru tomorrow (Feb. 21). The annual award, which carries Rs. 1 lakh and a citation, is given every year since 2023 to a distinguished writer, translator director or a critic.
S.L. Bhyrappa Sahitya Pratisthana is a Trust, registered in the year 1999, to further the cause of intellectual advancement in the field of education, literature and art, according to press release from Prof. G.L. Shekar, Hon. Secretary of the Pratisthana.
