Kalemane awards presentation ceremony in city on Feb.22

Mysore/Mysuru: Kumar Performing Arts Centre (KPAC), Mysuru, has organised the 69th International Nirantara Kalemane Festival at its Kalemane Sabhaangana in Hebbal 2nd Stage on Feb. 22 from  10 am to 1.30 pm.

On this occasion, a grand music and dance festival titled ‘Sacred Darshan of Indian Saints’ will be presented.

During the event, the ‘Kalemane Kalashree Lifetime Achievement Award’ will be conferred upon the eminent dance guru Prof. Sikkil Vasanthakumari, Artistic Director of Nalanatya Manjari Trust, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, in recognition of her significant contributions to the field of Bharatanatyam.

The ‘Kalemane Kalashree Award’ will be presented to Guru Sanjee Pirantampan, in recognition of her contribution to the Field of Bharatanatyam, Artistic Director of Natya Kala Manjari, Toronto, Canada.

Journalist Amshi Prasanna Kumar will be the chief guest. The programme will also be attended by Kannada Rajyotsava Award recipient Lalitha Rao,  Dr. V. Ranganath and Nandini, Dr. Jamuna Rani V. Mirle, Sitaram, Balakrishnayya, R.G. Singh and S. Radhakrishna.

Under the guidance of Karnataka Kalashree Dr. K. Kumar, students of KPAC, Mysuru, will present a Bharatanatyam performance titled ‘Santa Namana.’

A Bharatanatyam recital will be presented by Sanjee Pirantampan, Toronto, Canada.

Students of Sri Ganesh Sangeetha Nrithyalaya Charitable Trust, Mysuru, under the direction of Dance Guru Aarthi Arun, will present ‘Purandara Namana.’

Students of Krishnan Performing Art Academy, Bengaluru, under Dance Guru Seema Krishnan, will present a Kathak performance titled ‘Padamrutha.’

Students of Dance Guru Ramya Ram Narayan, Rakshitha Raghunathan, Ragini and their disciples from Samriddhi Dance Foundation, USA, will present a dance production based on the Tyagaraja Pancharatna Kritis.

A musical Lec-Dem presentation of compositions by Saint Tyagaraja & Sri Purandaradasa will be rendered by music scholar Madurai R. Shankar Prasad, accompanied by Vid. G.T. Swamy (mridanga) and Vid. Rupanagudi Ratna Teja (violin).
