Mysuru: Three young riders from Mysuru-based Chamundi Horses put up an impressive show at the ‘Hoofbeat Marathon’, Maharashtra State Endurance Championship, held from Feb. 6 to 8 at Karjat                                   in Maharashtra.

L. Kshaminaam Urs, 14, a student of Sadvidya High School, Mysuru, completed the 40-km endurance ride on his horse ‘Bheema’ in 3 hours and 35 minutes, qualifying for the Nationals.

Nine-year-old S.K. Loukya of Rashtrotthana Vidya Kendra, Vijayanagar, Mysuru, participated in the 20-km endurance event on her horse ‘Kashi’, clocking 1 hour and 45 minutes. She earned the title of ‘Youngest Rider’ of the marathon and also qualified for the Nationals.

S.K. Advika, 14, a student of St. Joseph’s Central School, Vijayanagar, Mysuru, competed in the 40-km endurance category with her horse ‘Nandi’.

Kshaminaam, who has been riding since the age of four, has steadily built his journey in the sport. Encouraged by his parents, M.A. Lakshmikanth Raj Urs and Dr. Mekhala Kagli, Kshaminaam received his first stallion for personal training in 2020.

This marked the foundation of Chamundi Horses, formally established in 2023. The initiative has since grown into a stable of over 20 trained horses, promoting endurance riding among young enthusiasts.

Earlier, Kshaminaam secured first place in the Under-14 category (20 km) at the Dhurusu Race and Endurance Championship 2025 held in Coimbatore and qualified for the Nationals at the Hoofbeat Marathon Endurance Championship 2026 in Maharashtra.

Advika and Loukya, sisters who share a passion for horse riding, have been training with Chamundi Horses for the past two years with the active support of their parents, Sangamesh and Krupa.

They undergo structured training in endurance riding, beginning with the fundamentals and progressing systematically. While they train regularly on weekends, they dedicate additional time during school vacations.

Loukya, the youngest rider in the Championships she has participated in, has already made her mark at the Dhurusu Race and Endurance Championship 2025 in Coimbatore and the Hoofbeat Marathon Endurance Championship 2026 in Maharashtra.

Advika secured second place at the Dhurusu Race and Endurance Championship 2025 in Coimbatore and also                                          competed in the Hoofbeat Marathon Endurance Championship 2026 in Maharashtra.
