Mysore/Mysuru: Nineteenyear-old Rishav Appachu Manavattira, a second-year Mechanical Engineering student at RV College of Engineering (RVCE), Bengaluru, has been selected to represent the South Zone in the prestigious Vizzy Trophy organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The tournament will be held from Mar. 1 to 5 at Panjim Gymkhana Ground, Goa.
Rishav is the first cricketer from RVCE to represent the college at the Vizzy Trophy. A right-hand wicketkeeper-batsman, Rishav’s selection follows an outstanding performance for VTU team at the South Zone Inter-University Men’s Cricket Championship 2025-26, held at JSS Science and Technological University, Mysuru. He finished among the top five run-scorers in a highly competitive field of 128 teams.
The team secured second place and qualified for the All-India Inter-University Championship 2025-26 at Saurashtra.
Having played professional cricket for the past 13 years, Rishav has represented teams in numerous Zonal and League matches, as well as corporate tournaments. He has also played for the Karnataka Under-19 side in Nepal, competing against the Nepal national team.
Rishav is the son of Manavattira Ranju Belliappa and Sowmya Belliappa from Kodagu.
