Mysore/Mysuru: Seeking payment of long pending bills amounting to Rs. 200 crore, Mysuru City Corporation, MCC Civil Contractors staged a demonstration in front of the MCC office on Sayyaji Rao Road here on Monday.
“We carried out works under various Government schemes in the MCC, borrowing loans from Banks and other financial institutions and even pledged our properties and jewellery. Due to the non-clearance of bills for long, we are unable to repay the loans and subsequently the Banks and other financial institutions have sent notices on attachment of our pledged properties. Besides, taking note of non-payment of loans, the Banks have stopped advancing loans to Contractors executing Government works,” the Contractors maintained.
Pointing out that the Karnataka Contractors Association has called for a Statewide strike later this month to demand payment of pending bills amounting to thousands of crores of rupees, the MCC Contractors said, they too will take part in the demonstration to take place at Freedom Park in Bengaluru. They urged the Chief Minister to respond to their plea and take immediate measures for clearing pending bills.
MCC Contractors Assn. President Chandrashekaraiah, Secretary Harshavardhan, Directors Venkatappa, Narayan, Dhananjay, Manjunath and others were present.
