Pharma student drowns in canal

Nanjangud: A pharmacy student, who went for a swim in a canal, has been reportedly drowned.

The incident took place at Hullahalli Canal near Debur village on Sunday and the deceased has been identified as Darshan (21), son of Yogeesh & Prema couple, a resident of NGO Colony near Chamalapura Hundi in the town. He was pursuing his D. Pharma course at a private college in Mysuru. Yesterday being a holiday, Darshan along with four of his friends went to the canal in the afternoon and dived into the water but did not surface, it is learnt.

His shocked friends informed those working in the neighbouring fields, but Darshan had drowned by then, it is said. On being informed, Darshan’s family members arrived at the spot. Later, Fire and Emergency Services personnel and expert swimmers fished out the body from the canal.

Nanjangud Rural Police have registered a case & investigating.
