MLC Shivakumar urges Government
Mysore/Mysuru: MLC K. Shivakumar has urged the Government to establish a 100-bed ICU at K.R. Hospital in Mysuru.
Speaking at the Legislative Council at the ongoing Budget Session of the State Legislature at Bengaluru on Monday, Shivakumar argued that apart from Mysuru district, hundreds of patients from neighbouring districts of Mandya, Hassan and Chamarajanagar visit K.R. Hospital daiy for their medical needs. “At present there is a 50-bed ICU in K.R. Hospital, which is not enough to cater to the demands. Also, Cheluvamba Hospital in K.R. Hospital premises too is facing a shortage of beds, which has severely inconvenienced patients. As such, there is an urgent need for setting up 100 bed ICUs in both these Hospitals. K.R. Hospital is facing shortage of Dialysis technicians and in this backdrop, the Government should take immediate measures for filling up 117 vacant posts,” he urged.
Responding to the MLC’s demand, Medical Education Minister Dr. Sharanprakash Patil assured that measures will be taken for establishing a 100-bed ICU at K.R. Hospital. Also, a 100-bed facility at Institute of Nephrology Centre at Mysuru will soon be set up, he added.
