Anganwadi workers seek hike in wages

March 11, 2026

Mysore/Mysuru: Seeking a hike in wages, Anganwadi workers, under the banner of AITUC-affiliated Karnataka State Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Federation, staged a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Siddarthanagar on Monday.

“The Government should withdraw the proposal made in the budget  for distribution of sarees to Anganwadi workers and helpers and instead, should hike wages,” the protesters urged.

Pointing out that the State Government had failed to implement its 6th guarantee of wage hike for Anganwadi workers and helpers, they said the Government, instead of hiking wages, has proposed  saree distribution, which is not correct.  They demanded the Government to announce gratuity for all retired Anganwadi workers and other mandated facilities.

Federation office-bearers P.M. Sarojamma, Y. Mahadevamma, Girija and others were present.
