Petrol bunk loot case: Bilikere Police nab three of five accused; two more accused nabbed by Harohalli Police

Hunsur: Bilikere Police have arrested three of the five accused who had looted Rs. 15,300 from Swami Petrol Bunk & Service Station at Karimuddanahalli near Bilkere on the night of Feb. 12. Two more accused have been nabbed by Harohalli Police in another case.

While 30-year-old Kiran of Hassan, 32-year-old Lakshman of Mandya and 32-year-old Umesh of Kirijaji village in Hunsur taluk were nabbed by Bilikere Police, who also seized a Skoda car (KA-51-MD-9565), Rs. 3,200 cash and lethal weapons from them, Harohalli Police have arrested Rakshit and Abhi in another case.

Details: On Feb. 12 at about 10.30 pm, a gang of five armed men barged into Swami Petrol Bunk & Service Station in Karimuddanahalli near Bilkere, assaulted two staff members and looted Rs. 15,300 from them.

The robbery and assault were captured on CCTV cameras. The gang which arrived in a Skoda Slavia car without a number plate, initially pretended to refuel. They then forced their way into the office, attacked the staff with lethal weapons, snatched the cash and fled.

Bilikere Police, who had registered a case, had secured the abandoned weapons and launched an investigation to trace the culprits. Superintendent of Police (SP) Mallikarjun Baladandi, Additional SPs C. Mallik and L. Nagesh and Hunsur Dy.SP Ravi guided the Police team led by Bilikere Inspector T.M. Puneeth, which nabbed three accused Kiran, Lakshman and Umesh at a hotel near Hinkal Flyover on Mar. 6 and produced them before a Court which remanded them to Judicial Custody.

Sub-Inspector Isharath Begum and staff Prathap, Shashikumar, Jayaram, Nagarjuna, Ashok Kumar, Shivakumar Prasad, Technical Wing’s Vasanthkumar, Sunita and Police vehicle driver Govinda took part in the nabbing operation.
