Caved-in road bridge not repaired yet

March 16, 2026

Sir,

We wish to draw the attention of the civic authorities to a serious safety concern at I-Block, 2nd Main Road, Ramakrishnanagar, behind Indraloka Choultry, where a road bridge over a canal collapsed more than four months ago.

In November 2025, the deck on 2nd Main Road built over the canal suddenly caved in at around 11.10 am. Fortunately, no pedestrians or vehicles were passing at that moment, averting a possible accident and injuries.

A passerby immediately alerted us and the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) authorities were informed. Officials visited the spot, inspected the damage and reportedly submitted an estimate to the higher authorities within a week.

However, no repair work has been taken up so far. Residents have met the concerned engineer and other senior officials, requesting them to expedite the work, but only assurances have been given. The matter has also been brought to the notice of our elected representatives, but no action has followed.

Despite repeated requests, the MCC authorities have not responded positively, leaving tax-paying residents to suffer due to official apathy. The issue was also raised at the ‘Janaspandana’ meeting held at the MCC Zone-3 Office in Sharadadevinagar, but it has yielded no result.

As a last resort, we request the MCC Commissioner, through the columns of your newspaper, to look into the seriousness of the issue and take up repair works at the earliest, before the onset of the rainy season.

– Narayana Prasad, P.G. Raman and other residents, Ramakrishnanagar I-Block, 10.3.2026
