Mysore/Mysuru: The residence of Mysore Vasudevacharya in city will be hosting two music concerts during this weekend. Vid. G.K. Manamohan will present a Karnatak vocal concert on Saturday (Mar.21) accompanied by Vid. Keshava Mohan Kumar on violin, Vid. A. Radhesh on mridanga and Vid. Bhargava Halambi on khanjira.

Vidu. C.S. Sarvamangala will be presenting a Sitar concert on Sunday (Mar.22) accompanied by Pandit Gurunandan on tabla.

While the Saturday’s concert is scheduled to start at 4 pm, the Sitar concert will be beginning at 10.30 am. Both the programmes are open to all music-lovers.

Vid. Manamohan has learnt under Vidu. H.N. Rajalakshmi, Vidu. Vasanta Sundararajan and Vidu. Pushpa Srinivasan, in city. He started performing full-fledged concerts at the age of 13 and has performed in many renowned sabhas in Karnataka and in the US.

He has a Master’s degree in Environmental Science (USA) and has served at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), as Environment Health & Safety specialist for thirteen years.

Vid. Keshava, a disciple of Vid. H.K. Narasimhamurthy, is an ‘A-grade’ violinist of Akashvani and Doordarshan. 

Trained under Vid. P.G. Lakshminarayana and Vid. Mannargudi Easwaran, Vid. Radhesh is an established mridangist. He is graded ‘A’ in AIR.

Vid. Halambi has been trained in mridanga by Vid. Nagendra Udupa and Vid. Jayachandra Rao, and has been under Vid. C.P. Vyasa Vittala for Kanjira. .

Vidu. Sarvamangala is a disciple of Pandit N.V. Gopinath, a well-known sitar exponent of South India, also an expert on Karnatak veena. She is engaged in classical solo concerts and associated with Grand Sitar Symphony, a leading sitar ensemble based in Bengaluru.

She has published articles, both in English and Kannada, on musicians and their music, interviewing several outstanding musicians of the country, vocalists and instrumentalists of different genres.

She is currently engaged in completing a book that covers the music journeys of 21 eminent Hindustani musicians of Karnataka.

Son of sitarist N.V. Gopinath, Pandit Gurunandan had his training under the tutelage of Tabla Maestro Pandit D.S. Garud and has had the guidance of renowned Tabla Maestro Pt. Ravindra Yavagal as well.
