Madikeri: Two motorbike riders met their tragic end, after their vehicle was allegedly knocked down and runover by a car on Gonikoppa-Thithimathi-Mysuru Road here yesterday afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Shivakumar (25) of Nanjangud and Mohammed Shiyab (27), a native of Palakkad in Kerala. The duo along with their six other friends, were reportedly travelling towards Mysuru, when the tragedy struck. While the car was proceeding  towards Gonikoppa.

The accident occurred at around 1 pm, with the car (KA-03, NH-1179) first hitting the two-wheeler (KA09, 8507) of Shivakumar, followed by that of Shiyab, as the driver lost control over the steering, it is said.

Gonikoppa Police visited the spot and conducted mahazar. The bodies were shifted to Community Health Centre, Gonikoppa for post-mortem. A case has been registered & investigation is on.
