Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha is feasting the audience with two extraordinary vocal concerts this weekend (Apr. 11 and 12) at its premises on JLB Road.

Apr. 11 – 6 pm: Vidu. Lavanya Krishnamurthy from Bengaluru is singing for the endowment programme of Dr. H.S. Madhavi sponsored by H.R. Sundaresan and birthday remembrance of T.V. Alamelu sponsored by Dr. Meera Nathan.

Anirudh Bharadwaj on violin, A. Radhesh on mridanga and Srinidhi Kaundinya on ghata will provide the accompaniments.

Hailing from a family of illustrious musicians, Lavanya started learning Karnatak Music from an early age of 4, initially under the tutelage of Guru H.N. Meera and now continues under Guru Dr. T.S. Sathyavathi.

Lavanya’s grandfather late Vid. T.K. Subramanya Shastry was an accomplished violinist, her father Guru Vid. T.S. Krishnamurthy is a venerated violinist. Lavanya is a Gold Medallist (MA Music) from Bangalore University and has performed across the globe.

Apr. 12 – 6 pm: Programme in memory of Sabha’s former President K.V. Murthy.

Vid. S. Sakethraman from Chennai will give a vocal concert with Mattur Srinidhi on violin, V. Praveen on mridanga and G. Guruprasanna on khanjira.

Saketharaman is a prime disciple of Padma Bhushan Lalgudi Jayaraman. He started learning Karnatak vocal from late Srirangam Krishnamurthy Rao at the age of 4. Subsequently, he learnt under late Savitri Satyamurthy. He has learnt several Padams and Javalis from Geetha Raja, rare kirtanas of Trinity and other yesteryear composers from Vid. Nagai Muralidharan.

Son of Vijaya Santhanam and Santhanam, he also learns voice culture and Hindustani music from Sangeetha Kalanidhi T.V. Gopalakrishnan.

His elder sister, Vishaka Hari, is a well-known Harikatha exponent. His wife, Vidhya, is a doctor. The couple reside in Chennai and have a daughter and a son.
