Ensure no drinking water crisis in summer: MLA GTD to officials

April 11, 2026

Mysore/Mysuru: Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Devegowda (GTD) directed officials to ensure that there is no drinking water crisis in villages and other areas of the Constituency during summer.

He was speaking at a meeting with officials of MCC, Hootagalli CMC, Rammanahalli, Kadakola, Bogadi and Srirampura Town Panchayats at the MCC office here on Thursday.

Pointing out that areas of the Constituency should be provided drinking water from Kabini, KRS and Melapura Pumping Station until the Old Unduwadi project is completed, GTD said, water should be supplied in tankers in areas found necessary. He directed the officials to take measures for supplying water to areas such as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Nagar, Vasanthnagar, Venkateshwara Layout, Manasinagar & surrounding areas.

“Residents of Srinagar D-Block coming under Srirampura Town Panchayat have been repeatedly complaining me about drying up of borewells. The officials should address this issue immediately and it must be ensured that 4 MLD of water is supplied to Layouts in Vijayanagar Fourth stage,” GTD noted.

DC G. Lakshmikanth Reddy said that a Committee, headed by MCC Superintending Engineer (SE), has been formed to address water shortage complaints. Pointing out that with Weather forecast predicting a shortfall in Monsoon rains, the officials must get prepared for drinking water supply through tankers, he said that it must be ensured that water sharing formula of 40 MLD water to MCC and 20 MLD water to other Local Bodies, as agreed upon, is correctly implemented when Kabini water project is implemented.

Expressing dissatisfaction over waste disposal in several areas of the city outskirts, GTD instructed officials to clean up heaps of uncleared waste in Hootagalli KHB Colony, Belavadi, Koorgalli, Vijayanagar 4th Stage, Hinkal and other surrounding areas.

MCC Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif, MCC SE Manjunath, Hootagalli CMC Commissioner B.N. Chandrashekar, Executive officers of TPs — H.M. Suresh, Sujay, H.R. Mahesh and Deepa — KUWS&DB EE Mohammad Asif Iqbal, MCC EEs A.M. Mohammad Mustafa and Nagaraju and other officials were present.
