Ganja peddling: Four from Mysuru arrested in Kodagu

One held in Mysuru, 1.985-kg ganja, mobile phone seized

Virajpet/Mysuru: Kodagu District Police have arrested four persons from Mysuru on charges of peddling narcotic substance ganja in Virajpet City Police limits and have seized 576 grams of ganja and a Toyota Etios car (KA-09-C-2898) from them.

Those arrested are 25-year-old Harshad Khan, a resident of Shanthinagar in Mysuru, 46-year-old Muzamil Ahmed and 28-year-old Afzal Pasha, both residents of Beedi Colony at Azeez Sait Nagar, Mysuru and 32-year-old Sakhib, a resident of Kalyangiri in Mysuru.

Following complaint from the public about sale of narcotic substances in the region, the Police, in a bid to put brakes to such illicit activities, raided a spot near Heggala Junction at Arji village on Apr. 7 and arrested the four accused besides seizing ganja and the car.

Kodagu Superintendent of Police (SP) R.N. Bindu Mani and Virajpet Sub-Division Dy.SP Mahesh Kumar guided Virajpet Circle Inspector Anup Madappa, Sub-Inspector Pramod, Assistant Sub-Inspector T.P. Manjunath and staff B.M. Hemanth Kumar, Tejas Kumar, N.R. Harish, N.S. Sagar, J. Kumar and Mudiyajjala Bheemajna in the case.

One held in Mysuru

Narasimharaja (NR) Police in Mysuru have arrested a man on charges of selling ganja in broad daylight and have seized 1.985-kg of ganja and a mobile phone from him.

He was arrested near Padmashree Convention Hall on Old Mysuru-Bengaluru Road in city on Apr. 8. The arrested man is 26-year-old Chandan Kumar, a native of Tilakpur village at Sultanganj Post in Bhagalpur district of Bihar and presently residing at Attibele in Bengaluru.

NR Police, who received information that a man was moving around in a suspicious manner on Old Mysuru-Bengaluru Road, the Cops rushed to the spot and the accused on seeing the Police vehicle fled from the spot, but the Police chased and caught him.

On searching him, the Cops found ganja in his bag. On questioning him, accused Chandan told the Police that one Sunil in Bengaluru had given him the narcotic substance to sell it to a customer                                             in Mysuru.

NR Police, who have registered a case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, are investigating.
