Youths from Karnataka, Kerala attend Agniveer Recruitment Rally

800 out of 6,235 candidates undergo physical endurance test on Day-1

Mysore/Mysuru: The 9-day Agniveer Recruitment Rally (second level) for eligible youths from the districts of Karnataka and Kerala, began early this morning at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in Nazarbad.

The rally is being held from Apr. 19 to 27 under the aegis of the Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement for candidates of the two States who have qualified in the written exam (first level) conducted last year.

As many as 6,235 candidates, including 6,043 men and 192 women are taking part in this rally. On the first day today, 800 men from Karnataka and Kerala took part.

The rally began with physical exercise and endurance tests such as running, jogging and  jumping over the bar, at about 5.30 am so that the candidates can give out their best before the summer heat intensifies as the day progresses.

Following the physical test, medical exam was conducted, during which chest measurement of candidates and other fitness tests were done.

The rally is limited to men candidates for the first eight days. The rally for all women candidates, who are 192 in number, will be held on the last day (Apr. 27), according to the authorities.

All the outstation men candidates are provided shelter at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry on Vinoba Road, with the KSRTC making arrangements for ferrying them to the rally venue and bringing them back in buses.
