CM inaugurates Basava Jayanti in city

Mysore/Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated the State-level Basava Jayanti celebrations, organised jointly by the District Administration, Kannada & Culture Department, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) and Mysuru District Basava Balagagala Okkuta at Kalamandira on Hunsur Road here this noon.

The Chief Minister also remotely laid the foundation stone for the construction of Basavanna statue to come up in the premises of Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office on Bannur Road in Siddarthanagar.

Siddarama Beldal Swamiji, Seer of Basava Yoga Kendra at Aurad in Bidar district, was conferred with the prestigious ‘Basava Rashtriya Puraskara (2025-26)’ on the occasion.

Earlier, CM Siddaramaiah and other dignitaries offered floral tributes to the portrait of Basavanna.

Picture shows Siddaramaiah, along with Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, lighting the traditional lamp on the occasion as other dignitaries look on.

Chamaraja MLA K. Harishgowda presided. Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji graced the occasion.

Shivakumar, Guarantee Schemes Implementation Monitoring Authority Vice-Chairperson Dr. Pushpa Amarnath, Karnataka Bhovi Development Corporation Chairman Ramappa, Kannada & Culture Department Secretary Manjunath, Mysuru Regional Commissioner Nitesh Patil, D G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, ADC Dr. P. Shivaraju and others were present.
