Mysore/Mysuru: A man who had ventured into KRS backwaters for a swim was drowned in the waters on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Lingaraju, a resident of Madhavagere village in the taluk.

On Sunday afternoon, Lingaraju entered the backwaters near Chikkarahalli and ventured into the waters for a swim during which he got drowned.

Villagers, who found the body of Lingaraju floating in the backwaters informed KRS Police, who reached the spot, fished out the body and shifted it to MMC&RI mortuary, where post-mortem was conducted and the body handed over to the family members.

A case has been registered at KRS Police Station.
