Two-day Buddha Fest at Vishnu Memorial

May 8, 2026

Mysore/Mysuru: To create awareness against addiction to mobile phones and TV among children, Ambedkar Sahitya Academy has organised two-day Buddha Fest in association with Gramax Developers, from tomorrow (May 9) at Vishnuvardhan Memorial opposite Udbur Gate on H.D. Kote Road in the city.

Speaking to media persons at Pathrakarthara Bhavan in city yesterday, former Mayor Purushotham  said, “Buddha Fest is based on the concept of Buddha Conscience. It has become imperative to educate the children against getting addicted to cell phones, which in some cases has claimed lives. The children are so obsessed with playing games on cell phones that, they are taking out their own lives.”

With this Buddha Fest, the parents at home shall be encouraged to tell the stories of Buddha to their wards at home and prompt them to develop social thinking among themselves. The main intent is to build a healthy mindset among children, who otherwise slip into depression in adverse situations, he said

Various competitions have been planned from 7.30 am to 7.30 pm and the winning children will be awarded. The competitions will be conducted in four auditoriums at the venue. District In-charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, Urilingipeddi Mutt Seer Sri Jnanaprakash Swamiji, writers Kotaganahalli Ramaiah and Mudnakudu Chinnaswamy will be present.

Earlier, an online programme was conducted on the same topic, and children from across the State, from Bidar to Chamarajanagar had taken part in the programme.
