Mysore/Mysuru: A youth from Bihar, who had gone fishing along with two others, was drowned in Chikkakere (Chikkere) at K. Hemmanahalli in the taluk yesterday.
The deceased youth is Amith Kumar (27), a native of Bihar, who was working at a poultry farm here.
Yesterday, Amith, along with two of his friends, went to Chikkakere to catch fish and all the three ventured into the lake. When they reached the middle of the lake, they realised that they would drown as they did not know how to swim and tried to come back but Amith began to drown. His two friends somehow swam back the shore while Amith drowned in the lake.
Villagers have captured videos of the two youths swimming and reaching the shore. Fire and Emergency Services personnel, who reached the lake, launched a search operation to trace and fish out the body of Amith but had to stop the search as it grew dark.
The search operation was again launched this morning and Amith’s body was traced and fished out from the lake. The body was shifted to MMC&RI mortuary and Amith’s family members have been informed about the tragedy.
Post-mortem will be conducted only after the arrival of Amith’s family members and the body will be handed over to them.
A case has been registered at Jayapura Police Station.
