House owner caught off-guard; incident comes to light as Saraswathipuram Police took accused for spot mahazar

Mysuru, June 5 – In an unusual incident, a man was left puzzled when the Police broke the news of the burglary that had occurred at his house.

True but strange, the burglary had taken place at the house of Shivalingaiah in Railway Layout near Bogadi in city. The burglar, has been identified as Mukunda,  who was later produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.

The incident

The house was burgled when Shivalingaiah and his wife had gone to Bengaluru for a few days. However, he came to know about the incident only when the Police brought the accused to his house for conducting spot mahazar.

The burglar, who had not forcibly opened the door, had used a duplicate key to open to gain entry into the house. He (burglar) had also not ransacked the clothes kept  in the almirah, but had taken away gold jewellery kept inside.

What made the theft easy was, the almirah which was kept unlocked. After searching the almirah without ransacking the clothes inside, he found gold jewellery worth about Rs. 2.12 lakh and fled with the valuables from the house.

When Shivalingaiah returned home after a few days, he did not suspect anything fishy as clothes were intact. Though it came to his notice, that jewellery was missing, he thought his wife may have kept it elsewhere.

After a few days, Saraswathipuram Police brought the burglar to his house for conducting spot mahazar, as per routine procedure. It was only then Shivalingaiah realised about the burglary at his house.

A case has been registered and further investigation is on.

At N.R. Mohalla

Burglars who broke into a house have decamped with gold and cash from the house.

The burglary took place at the third floor house of Najeeb-Ur- Rehman on Shivaji Road in N.R. Mohalla here.

On May 29, Najeeb and his wife left for Kanakapura after locking the house and returned at about 4 am on May 30. The couple again left for Bengaluru in the afternoon on the same day and returned at about 10.45 pm, only to find one gold necklace, gold pendant, three pairs of gold earrings, four gold finger rings and Rs. 40,000 cash kept in the drawer missing. A complaint was lodged at NR Police Station.

The Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
