Mysuru, June 5- Ganabharathi is celebrating the centenary of Prof. G.T. Narayana Rao (GTN) at  its Veene Seshanna Bhavan in Kuvempunagar tomorrow (June 6) at 5.30 pm.

Dr. T.N. Nagarathna will share insights on the life and works of late GTN, a retired Mathematics Professor and art critic. Nadoja Dr. T.V. Venkatachala Sastry will preside over the programme.

Stage event will be followed by unique dance programme ‘Pratibimba’ by Vidu. Pratibha Ramaswamy and Vidu. Janani Murali based on poems of Dr. Da.Ra. Bendre.

About the dance: The dance-drama ‘Pratibimba’ (Reflection) is a production based on the works of the Jnanpith Award-winning ‘Varakavi’  Dr. Da.Ra. Bendre.

A beautiful confluence of Bhavageete (lyrical poetry) and Bharatanatyam can be seen here. The performance primarily highlights the four types of Abhinaya (expression) — Angika (body movements), Vachika (speech/ song), Aharya (costumes/ props) and Sattvika (emotional/ mental state).

Additionally, modern technology has been integrated to further enhance the brilliance of this dance-drama.

Vidu. Pratibha Ramaswamy and Vidu. Janani Murali are renowned Bharatanatyam artistes  and are empanelled, talented artistes of Doordarshan and the ICCR (Indian Council for                                       Cultural Relations).

Vidu. Pratibha has performed solo dance-dramas such as Akka Mahadevi and Krishna Kumari.

Vidu. Janani also has solo performances to her credit, including Mohanam Krishnam, Aashraya, and Shivam Shankaram.

Together, they have participated in various National and International Dance Festivals, earning widespread public acclaim and appreciation, according to a press release from Ganabharathi Secretary C.G. Ravishankar.
