September 24, 2017

Dasara Aahara Mela Sub-Committee had organised a Nalapaaka contest to check the culinary skills of couples at Aahara Mela at Scouts and Guides Ground here yesterday morning. Six couples participated in the contest with the husbands preparing Ragi Mudde while their wives preparing different  variants of Uppusaaru with spicy chutney.

While traditional baked beans, onions and a variety of green leaves handpicked by wives were used to make the Uppusaaru, the spicy chutney had varieties of vegetables and pulses in it. After the preparation, the dishes were tastefully garnished with carved vegetables and coriander leaves.

The contest was judged by a panel of three judges assessing the time factor, compatibility of the couples, taste of dish prepared and cleanliness.

Anitha and Ramesh couple from Kuvempunagar bagged the first place, Yeshoda and Shivanna couple from Vijayanagar Second Stage bagged the second place while Lalitha and Puttegowda couple stood third.
