Mysuru: Alarmed by the fire accident at a restobar in Dattagalli on June 15 that claimed two lives and left six others injured, the City Police have begun holding meetings with stakeholders in the liquor, hotel and restaurant sectors to verify compliance with official regulations.

As part of the exercise, Vijayanagar Police Station Inspector Raviprasad chaired a meeting of bar and restaurant owners and managers, along with representatives of pubs and hotels operating within the station limits.

During the meeting, officials verified approvals obtained from various departments, including trade licences required for conducting commercial activities. Safety measures in place at the establishments, building designs and the availability of fire-fighting equipment were also reviewed.

The officials also collected copies of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) issued by the Fire & Emergency Services Department, along with documents related to the buildings where commercial activities are being carried out.

Inspection by Excise personnel

The Excise Department personnel too have begun inspection of pubs, bar and restaurants, following the fatal fire mishap at a restobar in Dattagalli.

Under the leadership of Excise Deputy Commissioner (Mysuru Urban) S. Nagarajappa, the Excise Dy.SPs, Inspectors and other personnel, inspected various dabas, bar and restaurants in the jurisdiction of Excise Range-3.

The inspection focused on licence and compliance of licence conditions. The owners of liquor vends have been given strict instructions to follow the rules and regulations, it is said.
