280 additional cleaning staff deployed for Dasara in city

September 25, 2017

Mysuru: To maintain cleanliness of the city during Dasara festivities, 280 additional cleaning staff are rendering their services, said President of Dasara Cleaning Sub-Committee Narayanaswamy.

Disclosing this at a press meet here on Saturday, Narayanaswamy said that lakhs of people visit the city to view Dasara cultural programmes which would result in them throwing waste such as paper plates, cups etc. around places of importance which would mar the beauty of the city. Hence additional cleaning staff have been deployed to maintain cleanliness.

He said that the cleaning staff are deployed in batches near the Palace, Zoo, Chamundi Hill, Dasara Expo Grounds, venues of various cultural programmes, food mela venues, Flower Show and on the Jumboo Savari route, who would maintain cleanliness for a total of 16 days.

He said that the cleaning staff are working in batches from 6.30 am to 2.30 pm; 2.30 pm to 10.30 pm and from 10.30 pm to 6.30 am. Meanwhile, MCC Health Officer Dr. Ramachandra said that instruction have been given to stall owners at Food Melas to compulsorily keep two dustbins to collect wastes besides asking them not to use plastics which are banned, failing which stern action would be taken against such stall owners.
