Personal Assistant Shivakumar taken into custody; remanded to judicial custody after enquiry
Mysuru: Hunsur Assistant Commissioner (AC) Kavyarani and her Personal Assistant (PA) Shivakumar have been caught by the Lokayukta Police yesterday while they were allegedly accepting bribe in regards to a land issue.
The two were taken into custody by Lokayukta Police and after questioning them, they were produced before a Magistrate who remanded the AC and her PA to judicial custody.
Details: A case pertaining to four acres and 20 guntas of land on survey number 17/26 of H.D. Kote taluk was before Hunsur AC’s Court since one year.
The AC had reportedly demanded Rs. 10.50 lakh from complainant Dr. Roopa of Bengaluru. Dr. Roopa, who had paid the first instalment of Rs. 5 lakh, had brought this to the notice of Lokayukta Police and had lodged a complaint in this regard.
Lokayukta Police then decided to trap the AC and her PA. Yesterday, when the AC went to her house for lunch, Lokayukta raided her house while she was accepting remaining Rs. 5.50 lakh bribe and took her into custody.
The Lokayukta sleuths then raided the office, conducted an inspection and took the Assistant Commissioner’s PA Shivakumar into custody for his involvement.
Following direction from Mysuru Lokayukta SP T.J. Udesh, Dy.SP Shylendra led a team comprising Inspector Vijaykumar and staff in the operation.
