Mysuru: In yet another initiative for waste disposal, the MCC has entered into an agreement with Eveready Industries India Limited, the manufacturer of  well known brand of  Eveready dry cell batteries, for scientific management of battery wastes in MCC limits.

As per the agreement, used batteries and cells will not be mixed with general solid wastes and segregated separately. Later, the used batteries and cells will be transported, recycled and scientifically disposed off by officially recognised entities.

Mysuru City Corporation becomes the first Urban Local Body  in the State  to have signed such an agreement for battery wastes management and disposal. The agreement will help in mitigating environmental  pollution and ensure public health to a large extent.

Eveready Industries India Limited is an over a century old  major Indian company based in Kolkata. It is the market leader in dry cell batteries and flashlights in India. It also sells lighting products, small appliances and electrical accessories.

MCC Commissioner M.K. Savitha, Executive Engineer (Environment) K.S. Mrutyunjaya, Eveready Batteries Industry’s Senior General Manager Prasad Tantri, HRD Manager S. Nagesh and others were present.
