Incident near Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway entry point

Mysuru: The Mysuru South Police have arrested four persons in connection with a dacoity reported near Kempegowda Circle (Manipal Hospital Junction) near the entrance of Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway in city on Aug. 2.

According to the complaint lodged by Vinay of J.P. Nagar, the incident occurred around 10 pm when he was returning in a car from a function at Aarathi Ukkada in Pandavapura. When Vinay reached the Manipal Hospital signal, a man and a woman stopped his vehicle and sought a lift to Sathagalli signal. He agreed to drop them. However, when the vehicle reached the service road, 2 two-wheelers carrying four men intercepted it.

The group, along with 2 passengers, threatened Vinay and robbed him of his gold chain, mobile phone and wallet before fleeing. Based on his complaint, Mysuru South Police registered a case and launched an investigation.

A special team led by Inspector S.P. Sunil formed a detection squad, which arrested the four accused on Aug. 4. They were produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.

The arrested have been identified as Syed Shafeer (35) of Ghousianagar; Muskaan alias Nagma Banu (24), a garment worker from Tilaknagar, Bengaluru; Suhaib Pasha (26), a fruit vendor near Chikkagadiyara and a resident of Usmania Block, Ghousianagar and Syed Salman (30), a newspaper delivery van driver from Rajivnagar Second Stage.

The Police have seized an autorickshaw, two scooters, a piece of the stolen gold chain and Rs. 30,000 in cash from the accused. Further investigation is underway.
