Mysuru: Relay protest staged by hundreds of supporters of NR Constituency MLA Tanveer Sait, demanding Cabinet berth for their leader in the city for the past one week, was called off yesterday.

Azeez Sait Block Congress Committee President Syed Iqbal, who was leading the sit-in demonstration at FTS Circe in N.R. Mohalla, announced that the protest is being stopped.

Sait, who held a meeting on Tuesday with former Ministers Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa and K. Venkatesh at Government Guest House in Nazarbad, said that they have decided to discuss the issue further with the party High Command. Until then, the supporters have been told not to stage any protest. “I am thankful to all the party workers, followers and supporters, including Iqbal, who staged protest in my favour. I had requested the protesters to stop the stir, with the Monsoon Session of State Legislature to begin on Aug.13. They responded in equal measure and their love and affection is above any position,” he added.
