Mysuru: The 2nd Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs. 20,000 after he was found guilty of murdering his wife.

The man, who was convicted, is Nagesh, a resident of Hosakamakoppal in the taluk while the deceased is Mamata, the second wife of Nagesh. Nagesh had married Mamata after the death of his first wife Rajeshwari. Later, he began to suspect Mamata’s character leading to frequent fights between the couple.

On Mar. 6, 2020 at about 6 am, when Mamata was cleaning the cowshed, Nagesh, who picked up a fight, abused her using foul language and struck on the left side of Mamata’s neck with a machete, killing her on the spot, which came to be known during investigation and the then Investigation Officer K. Jeevan had submitted a charge sheet to Court.

Judge Mohan Basappa Badagandi, who heard the arguments from both sides, found accused Nagesh guilty and sentenced him to life and imposed a fine of Rs. 20,000 besides ordering to give the fine amount to the son of Mamata. The Judge has also ordered 1 year simple imprisonment if Nagesh fails to pay the fine.
