What about sites allotted between 2019 and 2023?

August 20, 2026

Mysuru: A day after the State Government scrapped the allotment of 50:50 ratio alternative sites made since 2023, senior JD(S) leader and former Minister S.R. Mahesh questioned Urban Development  (UD) Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah on why alternative sites allotted between 2019 and 2023 have not been cancelled.

Addressing a press meet at his office near Rama Vilas Road this morning, Mahesh said,  “It remains a big question why such alternative sites, which were allotted in gross violation of norms between 2019 and 2023, have not been scrapped.”

Rs. 5,000 crore scam!

“The MUDA scam is a huge one involving Rs. 5,000 crore and several gullible farmers have been cheated by middlemen in the name of 50:50 ratio alternative sites. Also, many site buyers have lost money to unscrupulous officials and middlemen,” he noted.

“It seems that Dr. Yathindra has not bothered to touch the allotment of alternative sites between 2019 and 2023 to save 14 such sites which were allotted to his family members. People are getting suspicious about leaving out the allotment of alternative sites between 2019 and 2023. Also, people are left wondering whether there is a different sort of justice in respect of the 1,100 scrapped sites and thousands of other such sites that have been left untouched,” he maintained.

Urging the Urban Development Minister to display his integrity by scrapping all illegally allotted alternative sites from 2019 onwards, Mahesh wanted the Government to act sternly against all those responsible for the mega scam, which hit national headlines two years ago in 2024.
