Mysuru: Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Wadiyar has urged the Union Government to officially declare Chamundi Hill a no-fly zone, citing its religious and cultural significance.
At the Consultative Committee Meeting in Mysuru yesterday, Yaduveer made the request directly to Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu.
He stressed the need to safeguard the sanctity of the Hill, pointing out that similar restrictions are already in place over major pilgrimage sites such as Tirupati. “Chamundi Hill deserves the same protection and the proposal should be seriously considered,” he said.
Yaduveer said protecting the sanctity of Chamundi Hill was of utmost importance to Mysuru. “This is a priority for the city and I urge the Ministry to take my proposal into account,” he added.
NCC hangar renovation
The MP also raised the issue of the NCC training centre at Mysore Airport, pointing out that the funds required from the State Government for renovation of the dilapidated hangar have not yet been released.
He urged Naidu to intervene and ensure that the State Government releases the necessary funds. Highlighting the importance of NCC centre, he said it plays a crucial role in training young aspirants, particularly those seeking to join armed forces and aviation sector.
“Upgrading the hangar will strengthen the training infrastructure for youth who aspire to serve the nation and pursue careers in aviation,” he said.
