MDA begins process to annul Sale Deeds, Khatas of 1,100 sites

Mysuru: It is official. Following the State Government’s decision to cancel the illegal allotment of 1,100 alternative sites under 50:50 ratio scheme by erstwhile Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), the Mysuru Development Authority (MDA) has now initiated steps to annul the related Sale Deeds and Khata records.

Acting on the Government’s orders, MDA in-charge Commissioner B.R. Mahesh has issued instructions to Local Bodies, including the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), to cancel the Khata registrations and Sale Deeds of the sites.

“We will strictly comply with the Government’s order. The directive to cancel the Sale Deeds and Khata registrations of illegally allotted alternative sites will be implemented. Since many of these sites have already changed hands through multiple transactions, the records must be carefully verified before annulment, which will take some time. Therefore, no fixed deadline has been imposed for completing the cancellation process,” he said.

“Regarding the Government’s order cancelling the allotment of substitute sites, we have sought clarifications on certain points where information is lacking. Once those clarifications are received, we will complete all procedures and submit a detailed compliance report to the Government,” he added.

Sale Deeds and Khata entries

On Aug. 19, the Urban Development Department formally cancelled the allotment of nearly 1,100 alternative sites valued at around Rs. 2,000 crore, which had been sanctioned in violation of rules under the 50:50 ratio scheme. The Department also directed the respective Local Bodies to annul the Sale Deeds and Khata entries of these sites.

Following the directive, MDA Chairman and Mysuru Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy instructed MDA in-charge Commissioner B.R. Mahesh to initiate immediate action.

Mahesh has since written to the Mysuru City Corporation, City Municipal Councils, Town Panchayats, Gram Panchayats and the District Urban Development Cell, directing them to cancel the Sale Deeds and Khata registrations of all the illegally allotted sites.

Instructions have also been issued to the Sub-Registrars of Mysuru North, South, East and West offices to annul the title deeds of the properties concerned.

Compliance reports

The Commissioner has directed the Local Bodies to submit detailed compliance reports to MUDA after cancelling the Sale Deeds and Khata entries, which will then be forwarded to the Government.

The Urban Development Department has warned that negligence in implementing the orders would invite disciplinary action under the rules.

Taking the warning seriously, DC Lakshmikanth Reddy and MDA Commissioner Mahesh initiated the cancellation process soon after receiving the Government directive. The process of verifying and annulling the Sale Deeds and Khata records has now begun.
