Aug. 15 Forest Encounter Case: DG&IGP orders for CID probe

Bengaluru: In a significant development, DG&IGP Dr. M.A. Saleem has ordered for Criminal Investigation Department (CID) probe into Hanur forest encounter case, killing three.

In the order dated Aug. 24, 2026 to DGP, CID, Special Units and Economic Offences, Bengaluru and the Superintendent of Police (SP), Chamarajanagar, the DG&IGP has ordered for transferring the cases registered in Ramapura (Crime No. 136/ 2026), Hanur (Crime No. 166) and Kollegal Rural Police Station (Crime No. 145/ 2026) to CID for further investigation with immediate effect.

The case files should be handed over to CID for further investigation forthwith. After the completion of investigation, the detailed report be sent to the DG&IGP office, the order stated further.
