Mysuru: The Karnataka Ursu Mahamandali Charitable (KUMC) Trust celebrated D. Devaraj Urs’ birth anniversary and distributed scholarship to poor and meritotrious sudents of the Ursu community at Alwar Kala Bhavan, Sri Krishna Temple Complex, Gokulam 3rd Stage, on Aug. 23.

Trust Hon. President M.L. Basavraje Urs inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp and offering floral tributes to the portrait of D. Devaraj Urs. He was joined by Trust President Sridhar Raj Urs, Ursu Mandali Sanga President Srikanth Urs, Secretary Y.M. Kiran, V.P. Lingaraje Urs and Philanthropist Niranjan.

Speaking on occasion, Basavaje Urs expressed his desire that the corpus of the Trust should be raised to Rs. 25 lakh and more, so that the Trust will be able to pay scholarship from the interest.

He also recalled how people of India respected D. Devaraj Urs when he travelled across India when he was the CM.
