Guv accepts B. Nagendra’s resignation

August 31, 2026

Bengaluru: Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has accepted the resignation of Minister for Planning and Statistics B. Nagendra who quit on Friday after being named as a prime accused in Maharshi Valmiki  ST Development Corporation money laundering case.

Nagendra had tendered his resignation on Friday after the Opposition BJP-JD(S) combine disrupted the Monsoon Session of the State Legislature seeking the resignation or sacking of the Minister. The BJP has also planned to take out a ‘Ballari Chalo’ padayatra from Raichur district starting tomorrow (Sept. 1).

Nagendra was inducted into the D.K. Shivakumar Ministry only on Aug. 3. This was the second time that Minister Nagendra quit over the same scam,  the first one being in 2024 when he served as ST Welfare  Department Minister in the Siddaramaiah Cabinet.
