Mysuru: St. Philomena’s College (Autonomous), Mysuru, had organised an interaction programme titled “From Classroom to Cabinet: A Conversation with Our Alumnus” at its premises in city recently.

Nearly 300 B.Com students interacted with its distinguished alumnus, Rizwan Arshad, who was recently appointed as Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.

Rizwan Arshad, a distinguished alumnus of the B. Com programme, shared valuable insights from his academic journey, professional experiences and transition into public life.

His interaction served as an inspiring reminder of the transformative power of education and the opportunities that emerge when knowledge is combined with commitment and a sense of public responsibility.

Rev. Dr. Lourdu Prasad Joseph, Rector, St. Philomena’s Educational Institutions, presided. Dr. Ravi J. D. Saldanha, Principal, Rev. Fr. S. Roshan, Finance Officer and Sunil D’Souza, Principal of PU College, were present.

A. Thomas Gunaseelan, IQAC Coordinator and Dr. V. Deepa, Co-Coordinator, ensured that the event was executed and anchored efficiently.

Prof. S. Srinivasa Setty, Retired Professor of Commerce; Dr. A. John Siluvai, Retired Professor of English and Prof. Jacob Chandy, Retired Professor of English, recalled their association with the former student in their felicitation address.

Several senior and retired faculty members, including Prof. C. V. Sreedharamurthy (Kannada), Prof. M. Raphael (Sociology), Christopher, (Physical Director), Prof. H. Anantha Sharma (Hindi) and Prof. R. Britto Dominic Rayan (Chemistry), Retired Professor of Chemistry attended.
