Mysuru: Taking strong exception to the conditions imposed by the T. Narasipur Circle Police Inspector on the installation of Ganesha idols and immersion processions, former MP Prathap Simha has urged Ganesha Pratishthapana Sanghas to install idols at suitable places.

Speaking to presspersons here yesterday, Prathap Simha said T. Narasipur Inspector Dhananjaya had displayed a “British-era mindset” while issuing the instructions. He asked the Police Department and Home Minister Priyank Kharge to “leave their audacity at home.”

Cautioning the Police against displaying such “audacity” towards the general public, he warned that he himself would “throng the Police Station” if such behaviour continued.

On Saturday, Inspector Dhananjaya, while speaking to members of Ganesha Mantap Sanghas, had warned them against stopping in front of mosques and bursting crackers during the Ganesha immersion procession.

He also cautioned against loud DJ music, dancing and other such activities when the procession passes through sensitive areas.

The Inspector advised the organisers to strictly follow the instructions issued by the Police during the immersion procession and avoid routes passing in front of mosques.

‘Will send him to jail’: Home Minister

Reacting to Prathap Simha’s statement that he would “throng the Police Station” if the Police continued to display “audacity” towards Ganesha Sanghas, Home Minister Priyank Kharge warned on his ‘X’ handle that Simha could land in Parappana Agrahara Jail in Bengaluru if he displayed “pseudo heroism.”

Alleging that Simha had made it a habit to hit the headlines at least once a week with “irresponsible and arrogant” statements, Kharge cautioned that anyone obstructing the functioning of the Police would have to face the law.

Maintaining that the Police Department would not tolerate attempts to disturb communal harmony and social peace, he said he would not take lightly any attempt to undermine the morale of the Police force.
